March Towards Wellness This Month by Supporting Female Health and sharing Mindful Moments

March signifies the end of a dark, cold, winter and presents us with opportunities and optimism as we step into spring. Let’s start the new season celebrating and supporting the women in your workplace. 8th March marks International Women’s Day 2025, we’ve gathered some ideas you can implement at work to bring a health and wellbeing focus to your female employees. Common issues that arise within female health can consist of reproductive problems, hormone imbalances, heart disease, and osteoporosis. Look inward to your health and wellbeing package and consider the services you include that may support the women in your workplace in dealing with these issues.

Be a champion for female health, and create a supportive environment by raising awareness with tips on prevention or early detection pinned around your workplace. Further to this, share internal comms discussing how private health insurance can address specific female health needs, like maternity cover, fertility treatments, or mental health resources.

As well as using International Women’s Day to work towards building an inclusive environment for female health and wellbeing, boost employee morale and spread positivity by nominating women in your team for the hard work they put in each day. Perhaps at the end of March, once all nominations are in, the winner is picked out of a hat and wins a wellbeing afternoon off!

Moving into spring can be associated with turning over a new leaf, but for many employees, their mental health can hold them back from making any positive changes. March is a great time to bring more mindful practices into your workplace. This could be a great time to introduce an Employee Assistance Programme, helping your team to navigate any mental health struggles they might be dealing with, and finding the right support for them. Mental health issues can go so easily unnoticed, with the likes of anxiety and depression being masked when employees turn up to work. It’s important to make any mental health services included in your health and wellbeing package as accessible as possible.

Reassure employees that their privacy is respected and valued when they seek out such services, creating a safe and inclusive space. Conveniently, World Happiness Day falls on 20th March this year, a great opportunity to play into the theme of mindfulness to create a positive working culture. An idea to bring this to life in the workplace could be to craft a ‘positive message tree’ in your breakout area. Members of your team can fill the tree with post-it note leaves that include small messages detailing things that bring them happiness. This helps individuals to reflect on the small things they can do to bring joy into their lives, whilst also sharing ideas with their colleagues, spreading happiness around the workplace in a time-rich, creative way. When promoting mindfulness in your workplace, it’s also important to look inward. As a leader, are you doing all you can to ensure the mental health of your employees is beingprotected?

By creating a workplace that prioritises wellness, in return you’ll get the greatest version of your employees, seeing a marked improvement in work output, retention, and positive mental attitudes. When it comes to creating a strong workforce, you only get out what you put in. Move into March with a spring in your step, and your workforce will follow.
